*Travel Updates May 2022*

  • Arriving passengers at Kigali International Airport must present a negative Antigen test taken 72 hours prior to departure. An additional Antigen test will be taken upon arrival, which costs US ($)5.
  • Wearing a face mask is no longer mandatory. However, people are encouraged to wear face masks indoors.
  • All visitors going to see primates in Volcanoes, Nyungwe, or Gishwati- Mukura National Parks must take an RT-PCR COVID-19 test. Tourists who have scheduled no more than two consecutive visits must produce a negative RT PCR COVID-19 test for the first visit only.
  • Departing passengers at Kigali International Airport must present a negative rapid or PCR test (depending on requirements at destination) taken 72 hours prior to departure. All departing Rwandans must be vaccinated.

Opening of The Ellen DeGeneres Campus

Located in the Volcanoes National Park, the Ellen Campus of the Dian Fossey Fund opened this month. The Ellen Fund was aimed at securing a future for renowned mountain gorillas by building The Dian Fossey Fund a permanent home.
The campus will include a Conservation Gallery that builds upon Dian Fossey’s legacy and serves as a key attraction for tourists from around the globe; an Education Outreach Center to increase opportunities for capacity building for students, staff, and the community; a Research Center that will enhance their cutting-edge research on gorillas and their habitats; and Housing to enable students, staff, and researchers to live on-site and build professional and personal relationships.

Throughout the campus, there will be interpretive paths for visitors to explore and expand their education of gorilla habitats and reforestation efforts.

Latest COVID News

Following Rwanda’s cabinet resolutions of 14 December 2021 on measures to contain the spread of COVID-19, the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) would like to inform you that all arriving tourists will be required to take an RT- PCR COVID-19 test on arrival & quarantine at a designated hotel while they wait for their COVID-19 negative results.  

Tourists visiting national parks will be exempted from the 72 hours quarantine but will be required to take a mandatory Rapid Antigen or RT-PCR COVID-19 test on a daily basis at their own cost.

Greetings from remarkable Rwanda. Following confirmations of a serious new Covid19 variant, there have been some updates to Rwandan travel, they are as follows;

Direct flights between Rwanda and southern Africa are temporarily suspended.
All arriving and departing passengers at Kigali International Airport must present a negative Covid 19 PCR Test taken 72 hours prior to departure.
All arriving passengers must quarantine for 24 hours at a designated hotel at their own cost.
A 7-day quarantine at own cost will be required for passengers travelling from or those with a recent history of travel in, particularly affected countries.
