VOLCANOES|BWINIDI ITINERARY

DAY 1

Arrival

On arrival at Kigali International Airport you’ll be met by our Uber Luxe Safaris representative, briefed on your trip and introduction to your driver guide. You will then proceed to Kigali Serena Hotel (15 minutes’ drive from the airport) for check in. Ideally located on one of Kigali's most charming boulevards, the five-star Kigali Serena Hotel is built around a polished granite atrium, which showcases the very best of Rwandese cultural art.

Relaxed yet elegant, the hotel features an Executive Lounge and Bar, which opens onto a wide sundeck overlooking the newly refurbished swimming pool. Also overlooking the pool, the popular Milima Restaurant offers a wide range of all-day buffet choices, while the relaxed Sokoni Café offers inside and outside poolside seating.

DAY 2

Road transfer to Musanze|Ruhengeri

This morning you will have a scenic transfer to the North Country side of Rwanda, the 2 hour drive is rewarding as you enjoy the beautiful and stunning landscapes. On arrival in Musanze you will check in at Gorilla Nest lodge and get to spend a night in the famous Jack Hanna Cottage.

Near a forest of Eucalyptus trees in Rwanda’s Northern Musanze district, Jack Hanna’s cottage is located in the grounds of the Gorilla’s Nest Lodge, on the foothills of the Virunga Volcano Range. Panoramic views of the Rwandan hills and slopes of the Volcanoes National Park greet you from your window and porch.

Later this afternoon you will have a tour to the ibyi iwacu cultural village IBYIWACU CULTURAL VILLAGE is changing traditional perceptions of what constitutes tourism by turning fate into fame through sharing various aspects of rural cultures and livelihoods into tourist attractions and creating income-generating activities for rural poor people that have lived on bush meat, poaching for generations. The village provides tourists experiences beyond wildlife viewing, the people, culture and how they live. The village also gives a chance to the visitors to enjoy the eight different local dances, listen to Gorilla songs, local food preparations, visit the local healer, visit the king’s place and get to hear all the old stories. After you will proceed to Volcanoes Virunga Lodge.

DAY 3

1st Gorilla Trekking|Volcanoes National park

After breakfast, your tour guide will transfer you to the park headquarters for briefing by the park warden. At 8:30 am local time, the gorilla trek begins. It normally takes between 2 to 8 hours depending on the movements of the gorillas in the jungle the previous night.

Volcanoes National Park protects the steep slopes of this magnificent mountain range - home of the rare mountain gorilla - and the rich mosaic of montane ecosystems, which embrace evergreen and bamboo forest, open grassland, swamp and heath. You may spot a wide variety of bird life but the high point will be spending an hour with the remarkably peaceful gorillas despite their size and appearance as they go about their daily life, feeding, playing, resting and raising their young ones.

DAY 4

Road Transfer to Bwindi

After your breakfast you will drive via chyanika boarder to cross toUganda. The 4hours’ drive will be an amazing one since you will enjoy Uganda’s different landscapes.on arrival you will check in at Buhoma lodge and have lunch. Afternoon will be at leisure.

Buhoma Lodge is one of the two lodges located in the national park the venue commands a spectacular view of the forest and only a short walk to the start point of gorilla trekking. Each of the cottages has their own veranda and area, self-contained. The lodge has a cozy lounge area for guests to unwind around the fire.

DAY 5

2nd Gorilla Trekking|Bwindi

This day you will do your second gorilla trek. This enhances your chances of interacting with gorillas in case the previous trek did not yield better results. Gorilla Trekking within the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is a highlight of all visits done in Uganda and certainly mountain gorillas are the major reason as to why very many people visit Uganda. On the other hand, Uganda is recognized as a very safe and more so secure country in which you can see these Gorillas in a serene surroundings.

After your memorable experience, you will have lunch at the lodge and transfer back to Kigali via the Cyanika Border. On arrival you will check-in at Kigali Serena hotel.

DAY 6

Departure

Depending on your flight time you will be transferred to Kigali international airport for your outbound flight
